Hello There! I’m Chris Powell the owner of Orange Door Consulting. I’ve spent my entire career in the food & beverage industry and I believe that small food businesses are an invaluable part of our local communities and economies. I am passionate about solving tricky problems, diving into numbers to help inform decisions and documenting everything along the way!
Most recently I was the co-founder/owner, executive chef and operations manager of Orange Door Kitchen, a shared commercial kitchen, event venue and co-working space in West Acton. There I helped dozens of small food businesses out with day-to-day operations as I ran the shared kitchen operation.
Prior to that I worked in wholesale sales and consumer analytics at Dancing Deer Baking Company in Boston and in category management for MillerCoors. I grew up slinging sandwiches at a local deli, waited tables in college and have been around food businesses my entire life.
I am a Certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor. I hold a BA in Political Science from the University of Richmond and currently serve on the Advisory Council to The James Beard Foundation's Impact Programs. I previously served for six years on the Board of Trustees at The Food Project where I led the Board’s development team.
I live in West Acton along with my wife Meredith and our two dogs Stacks & Indy.
